This beautifully designed Balinese styled second home in Khandala, situated in the Western Ghats near Mumbai, receives a large amount of rainfall every year (approx 3m) and requires highly durable products.
The customer had existing timber doors which had been installed only two years ago, but were now difficult to operate due to the warping from significant humidity and rainfall. The brief was to replicate the wood look but with a dimensionally stable product.
A one-off RitikaaWood sliding door solution was created for our client to create a 75% opening to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living spaces during his relaxing weekend visits. The solution included a one-off four track, four pane sliding window system, weighing approximately 70kg per pane, and allowed for easy and fast drainage of surface rain water from the tracks. The required performance characteristics for our client was more emphasized on dimensional stability, aesthetics and ease of use.
“I was attracted by the customisation possibilities in addition to the superior performance characteristics of RitikaaWood products which I needed for this project."
